How To Make Your Own Envelopes

Author: Craig Dawber

Making your own envelopes can be fun and is very simple. With a few supplies and a few minutes you can have all the envelopes you would ever need. All you need to do is find out what supplies you need and how to make them.

People make their own envelopes for various reasons. Some do it as a form of recycling or to save money. Others do it out of necessity - if they are in need of an envelope but do not have one. Making your own envelopes also is a way to make unique gifts or unique sizes for those odd packages you need to send. Imagine not having to run out to find a gift or that special size envelope ever again. Once you learn how to make envelopes you may never buy another again.

The supplies used in making your own envelopes are simple and easy to find. You need some paper product to use as the actual envelope base. For thicker envelopes you can use old calendar pages or magazine covers. For a quick envelope you can use notebook paper or even a paper bag. For something more creative you can iron a piece of tissue paper to a piece of wax paper and use that. Other supplies you will need are scissors, glue and a pattern. Now that you have gathered your supplies you can make your envelope.

The first step in making your envelope is to establish a pattern. The easiest pattern is to use an old envelope that you open up. Trace around it on your chosen paper. Then cut out the pattern and fold it into shape. You can then glue the envelope closed. You have quickly made your own envelope.

Making your own envelope may come out of need or just fun. It is really simple to do and costs pennies. When you need an envelope just consider making your own.
