Easing Haemorrhoids (Piles) Naturally

Author: Stewart Hare

Haemorrhoids or piles as they are commonly known are dilated varicose veins in the rectum or anus. Haemorrhoids (piles) are typically caused as a result of straining whilst having a bowel motion, pregnancy or being overweight. Symptoms of haemorrhoids (piles) are typically an inflamed painful swelling or lump in the anus area which can sometimes bleed leaving bright red blood in the stool, on the toilet paper or in the toilet bowl. Other symptoms include itching, mucous discharge and a discomforting dragging sensation. When experiencing these symptoms it is always best to get a check up with a doctor to rule out other more serious bowel conditions.

Haemorrhoids (piles) are closely linked with constipation and it is for this reason that diet can make a good impact in clearing up Haemorrhoids (piles). Include in your diet plenty of insoluble fibre which can be found in whole grains, vegetables and fruit, drink plenty of mineral water and cut out spicy foods. Psyllium husks supplements are well worth taking, they are high in fibre and will help with constipation.

Keep the affected area clean, clean with water only (no perfumed soap) after every bowel motion and pat dry with a clean soft tissue, this should help with itching.

The following supplements may help if you are suffering from Haemorrhoids (piles).

Extracts of horse chestnut

Flavonoids

Gotu kola

Psyllium

Vitamin C

Witch hazel
